Content management - TWWC

It is a little unusual for a web production agency to include a project from 3 years ago, but we are so proud of what we achieved here, we are going to include it anyway!

What we did

As an organisation, the architecture firm of Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners needs no introduction, having been responsible for the design of some of the world's most inspired and memorable construction projects.

TWWC had been working on this project for a while, finalising the architecture and content management services. However, it was Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners themselves who were going to be providing the designs and artwork for the website itself. And this was where the real challenge began.

The need for ultra-precision was absolutely paramount. To add further complexity, the website was to operate at 2 templated levels; a fixed outer template with a series of 14 different inner templates, designed to illustrate the key phases of their flagship design projects.

TWWC expressed to us their need for high level template production that would integrate seamlessly with their own content management service, and we gladly obliged.

Although we are experts in this field, we will freely admit that some jobs are incredibly difficult. And this was one of them. Ensuring pixel perfect positioning of so many information, navigation and visual elements was a very intense process, particularly when considering the quirksome nature of web browsers at the time.

Because of the W3C standards that we follow, we also had to ensure that despite the strong focus on visual imagery, the site still operated in a usable and highly accessible manner.

Working with both the client and TWWC, the templating process took a little under 2 months to complete, with content management and insertion taking a further 2 months.

The site went live in May 2005 and we truly believe that it is a fantastic example of how great design can be transposed to the web.

The current site is available at http://www.rsh-p.com.
