Website design - Forward Solutions
We had been looking after Gracechurch's previous website since the summer of 2003, amending content and handling email newsletters on request. In early Spring 2005, we were asked to create a new 'more exciting and intuitive' online presence for them.
What we did
Working with one of our design partners, Forward Solutions, we presented 2 routes, both of which made use of unobtrusive content driven Flash elements to help reinforce the brand.
Given the nature of Gracechurch's marketplace, we were very keen to maintain a strong visual impact whilst ensuring that the usability and phraseology of the website was logical and easy to follow.
This was particularly relevant to their range of specialist consultancy and analysis services and their archive of pdf articles and presentation documents. It was vitally important that this content was clearly accessible and followed a natural navigation methodology.
With the design stage complete, we then began to template the design artwork into W3C standards compliant XHTML/CSS2, ensuring that the site could accommodate certain Flash elements without hindering the overall usability and accessibility of the site.
As with many of our more boutique clients, this particular project did not necessitate the use of a content management system, and we handle content changes as required by client request. We also produce regular email newsletters.
The current site went live in October 2005 and is available at http://www.grch.net.
